The Lagos Passing the Torch campaign begins
The Passing the Torch campaign has begun in Lagos, Nigeria. Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke and the team are expectant for the greatest campaign that CfaN has ever held.
Details about the Passing the Torch campaign
The Passing the Torch campaign runs from 8-12th November in Lagos, Nigeria, over the course of 5 nights. For Christ for all Nations (CfaN) Founder, Reinhard Bonnke, this is his final African Gospel-Campaign and farewell campaign, with attendance predicted to be the highest for a number of years. The biggest campaign CfaN has held to-date took place in Lagos in 2000, for the Millennium Campaign, where 3.4 million of the 6 million attendees made a response to follow Christ during Reinhard Bonnke’s final message of the conference.
What does it mean to be “Passing a Burning Torch”?
The concept behind the Passing the Torch campaign is to say farewell to Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke and to “pass on the baton” to his successor, Daniel Kolenda. Kolenda follows in the footsteps of the vision that God gave Reinhard Bonnke over 40 years ago, to win the continent for Jesus. The campaign has potential to reach an unbelievable number of people, with over 20 million people living in Nigeria, and many travelling to witness the phenomenal campaign for themselves.
Believing for lives saved
During his ministry, Reinhard Bonnke has seen over 76 million registered decisions for Christ made in Africa. Since 1987, Bonnke has carried the vision from God and committed to seeing lives saved across the continent, saying “Whether I am eating or drinking, awake or asleep, the vision is ever-present. It never leaves me.” As he passes on his legacy to Daniel Kolenda at this year’s Passing the Torch campaign, Evangelist Bonnke is believing for the inspiration of thousands of pastors and evangelists from different areas of the world to go and share the good news.
The vision of the campaign
Others are sharing in the vision of the campaign, with John Darku, CfaN’s African Director, saying “This campaign will be like none we have seen before. Currently we plan to recruit 500,000 counsellors, 200,000 intercessors, a choir of over 23,000 and a security force of over 10,000. There is great excitement from all the churches in the country, and we are expecting a spectacular harvest of people coming to Christ.” Evangelist Daniel Kolenda, who will be taking on Bonnke’s legacy over the coming years is “thrilled to join with Reinhard in this vision” and has faith that “the results of this campaign will be farther-reaching and of even greater consequence than we can even imagine.”
